A course for men who desire to learn the theology and task of expository preaching. The goal is not to make vocational preachers, but to equip laymen to study the bible, prepare a message, and communicate it in a helpful way. Whether you want to grow in your ability to teach family devotionals, disciple others, or stand behind a pulpit, this lab is for you!
The course walks through a basic theology of expository preaching, covering definitions, hermeneutical approaches, and methods for crafting and preaching a sermon. It will equip you with a process to move from exegesis (bible study) to exposition (preaching the biblical message). This is not a seminary course, but a crash course designed to encourage laymen. Those in seminary, or considering seminary, are especially encouraged to attend.
The lab will allow for each man to preach a short sermon, should they desire, and be critiqued in a helpful and edifying way. Preaching a sermon is not required, but encouraged.
